356 Alloy Casting
356 Alloy
Casting aluminum alloy comprises a large segment of Ermak’s manufacturing business. Most common are aluminum alloys 356 / A356 / 333 / C355 / 319 / 535 / and 713. These alloys have excellent castability, weldability, pressure tightness, and corrosion resistance. 356 is commonly heat treated to T6 condition to improve its strength.
One of the most frequently cast aluminum alloys is 356 and its higher purity version, A356. These general-purpose alloys are in wide use and are advantageous in terms of cost and delivery. 356 is a cast aluminum alloy consisting of 6.5 to 7.5% silicon, 0.6% iron, 0.25% copper, 0.2 to 0.45% magnesium, 0.25% titanium, 0.35% zinc and 0.35% manganese. 356 casting alloy is typically heat-treated to improve its strength characteristics.
Many parts, including structural, machine, automotive, medical, and transportation, in addition to impellers, housings, pump components, transmission cases, flywheel housings, oil pans, brackets, tools, covers, frames, and bases, are commonly made from 356 alloy.
