A356 Alloy Casting
A356 Alloy
At Ermak Foundry & Machining, we specialize in casting a variety of nonferrous metals and metal alloys, including the A356 alloy. We handle casting jobs from one to thousands of pieces between half an ounce to over 250 pounds.
A356 aluminum alloy consists of 92.05% aluminum, 7% silicon, 0.2% iron, 0.2% copper, 0.35% magnesium, 0.1% zinc and 0.1% manganese.
This alloy is lightweight and highly corrosion-resistant, like stainless steel. A356 is commonly heat-treated to T6 condition to improve its strength. A356, like the 356 aluminum casting alloy, has excellent casting and machining characteristics. However, because the A356 aluminum alloy has fewer impurities, it has more strength and ductility than the 356 aluminum alloy. A356 aluminum castings are slightly more expensive, but they are ideal for machine components, chassis components, and other structural elements that require high strength or pressure tightness.
Many parts and products made with A356, including aircraft parts, pump housings, impellers, high-velocity blowers, structural castings, machine parts, tools, and frames, have excellent strength.
